Approaching 8 billion human beings on board our unique Spaceship Earth, here and now comes the time to redefine a complete SUSTAINABLE SYNERGIC WEB – integrating three major important sectors: social, environmental & ethnical.
80% of humanity presently lives in cities and 44% of these folks are not home owners!
Under pressure from three strong growing crises - political/ economical and environmental – global warming challenges our very existence, and can be re-addressed by Sustainable Urban Housing!
It is our major goal to synthesize all the above three major Global problems. We are very happy to be here as one of the three winners – having the opportunity to share with you our vision of global sustainability, based on a dynamic and continuous cradle to cradle® operating system, reintegrating cycles of birth, decay and rebirth:
ZERO WASTE, SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE, RENEWABLE ENERGY.
Within ten years (2012 / 2022) Zero Waste Concept can make available enough building material and energy to provide sustainable architecture to half of humanity. By linking this global Zero Waste initiative to a Sustainable Cities Housing Global Program creates a fantastic opportunity for RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR ALL.
Brazil has already established a National Policy for Solid Waste and residuals which facilitates a EPR - derived from the principles above, obliging, in the four next years (2011 / 2014), all 5.565 cities & municipalities to “source separation” – redirecting all kinds of waste, generating more jobs & new tools for environmental protection.
This most important Ashoka & Rockfeller Foundation Competition, together with HUD & American Planning Association can solidify now a synergic work Brazil / USA efforts, since our Environmental Minister & Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago proposed this theme to be internationalized. Next year, these aims will blossom in the Summit of Americas – 5th April in Cartagena, & in Rio + 20 World Conference reuniting 192 countries – 5th June, proposing a Sustainable Global Earth!
In 1992, 20 years ago, the Sustainable Development paradigm was launched based on Gaia /Live Earth (an old Hellenic concept - rediscovered in the 80’s by important scientists and environmentalists), enabling us here and now in Washington – to begin redefining & establishing a new common global ground of interpretation about CLEAN PRODUCTION / CLEAN FACTORIES - through an Hybrid Pragmatic Zero Waste Bioeconomy reinforced by a consequent GREEN GLOBAL SEAL! From a World Source Separation effort toward a Sustainable & Liveable Urban Housing – directly linked to ECOLOGICAL SANCTUARIES in every municipalities, re-enhancing the preservation of rivers, lakes, & forests, as vital productivity with, more and more, correct premises of “ORGANIC RIGHTS” revitalizing and linking 8 billion human beings to an Eco Humanitarian Clean Earth!
As Emperor Ashoka, 2.200 years ago, awaked constructing hospitals for all human beings and animals, let’s together claim right now, for a Global Green Sustainable Bioeconomy Consciousness providing Clean Biomes, Forests, Waters and Sustainable Urban Housing for All! Yes, we can GREEN’IT!

If only 30% of the 11.2 bn tons of waste collected worldwide yearly would be transformed in clean building materials and used in the sustainable housing system we are proposing (50m2 - 7 ton), the world housing defict would be erradicated in one year!
